Dr Shimoyamada has been researching gardens and their potential to attract tourists. His PhD thesis focuses on Scottish and English Open Gardens (private gardens open to the public for charity-fundraising&#39 and as tourist attractions). He is currently investigating how council members of a newly launched garden tourism project in suburban Tokyo perceive the risk of overtourism and undertourism. |
