| Research outline | Bridging anthropology, human ecology, and forest ecology, my research investigates the long-term impact of community forest-use in India's Tehri Garhwal Himalaya (2,000–3,500m elevation). Over a 30-year period, I have tracked local harvesting practices across two distinct oak-pine ecosystems: one protected and one frequently lopped for fodder. By comparing oak and pine regeneration between these sites, I evaluate whether current human use exceeds the forest’s natural capacity to recover. |
