In April 2006, the University of Tokyo established the Office for Gender Equality under the direct control of the President as the core of the implementation system to promote "the University of Tokyo Basic Plan for Gender Equality," which was adopted in December 2003.
In April 2024, the office made a new start as the Office for Gender Equity, Center for Coproduction of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity（IncluDE）.
