The Fourth Peking University – University of Tokyo Forum

The fourth Peking University –University of Tokyo Forum was held from March 10th to 11th, 2018 in Beijing, China. This forum is organized annually as part of the strategic partnership program between the University of Tokyo and Peking University, under the leadership of the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics at the University of Tokyo and the School of International Studies at Peking University.
The theme this year was “Sustainable Development and International Cooperation in an Era of Uncertainty.” Fifteen faculty members and students from the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, the Graduate School of Public Policy, the Institute of Social Science, the Graduate School of Economics, and the Graduate School of Chemical System Engineering at the University of Tokyo joined the forum, and engaged in lively discussions with the participants from Peking University in three sessions themed respectively “Development,” “Energy & Environment” and “Belt & Road Initiative.” This was followed by a final session dedicated to student presentations, resulting again in very productive Q&As and deep insights for future research.
Through this forum both the University of Tokyo and Peking University have confirmed their strong wish to further enhance the strategic partnership between the two universities and continue to work towards future academic development and active students’ interactions. The fifth forum will be held next year in Tokyo, Japan.
