GLP-GEfIL Program's Third Graduation Celebration held

GLP-GEfIL is a transdisciplinary, university-wide undergraduate program. It is carefully designed to equip students with the vision and communication skills needed to play creative roles in global society. On January 31st, 2020, the third graduation ceremony took place; 144 students have now graduated from the program to date.

The 48 new graduates were awarded certificates of completion by Professor Sawako Shirahase, Executive Vice President of UTokyo.


After the congratulatory message from Professor Shirahase, Mr. Shigeki Ohno, General Manager of Corporate Sustainability Department of Sumitomo Corporation, gave a congratulatory address. Twelve guests from nine sponsor companies also attended the ceremony in order to celebrate the completion.

After the congratulatory speech, four graduates took the podium to speak about what they have achieved and gained through the GLP-GEfIL program and beyond. They will conduct roles as Alumni Council Officers after graduation.

The GLP-GEfIL Program is open to all undergraduate students of UTokyo.  Graduates are welcome to join the GEfIL Alumni Group, where they can continue to embrace their global networking platform after graduation. The selection process takes place in the summer to autumn period for second year undergraduate students. The 6th recruitment for GLP-GEfIL students will start this coming April.
