Executive Vice President Kohei MIYAZONO and three researchers from the University of Tokyo attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC) 2019 in Dalian, People's Republic of China, between July 1 and 3.
Influential leaders in business, government, academia, arts and culture from all over the world, especially from Asian countries, gathered at Dalian to attend the AMNC. There, they intensively discussed various global challenges to tackle. AMNC focuses more on leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship than the Annual Meeting in Davos, which is also organized by the WEF. More than 2,000 participants, including leading experts in science and technology, attended the meeting and took part in over 100 working sessions.
EVP Miyazono opened the UTokyo IdeasLab by introducing the University of Tokyo and welcomed the audience with an introductory speech. This was followed by presentations from the three UTokyo researchers, Professor Ryosuke SHIBASAKI (Center for Spatial Information Science), Associate Professor Hiroe MIYAKE (Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies) and Project Researcher Ayumi ARAI (Center for Spatial Information Science). The audience was composed of people from a wide variety of sectors, including business and governments in addition to those from academia. The audience listened intently to the presentations and the speakers were involved in a fruitful and lively discussion with the audience after the presentations.
