Ecological Emotions: Coping With Eco-Anxiety and Grief in the Face of the Environmental Crisis
Date: Tuesday, October 22, 12:15-13:00
Online: Zoom
Language: English
Speaker: Laÿna Droz
Abstract
Many people experience overwhelming emotions in view of the environmental crisis, including sustainability students and professionals. Teaching about knowledge and methodologies needs to be associated with sharing tools to face these difficult emotions. One way is to share coping strategies for eco-anxiety and ecological grief. This can help build collective ecological emotional resilience by cultivating feelings of connectedness and hope, together with students and practitioners.
Speaker Bio
Laÿna Droz is Project Assistant Professor for the Sustainable Society Design Center at the University of Tokyo. She works on the ecological emotions, meta-ethics of environmentalism, the philosophy of biodiversity science & conservation and intercultural science communication.
