The fourth session of the Owada Chair Program will be held on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November at the Komaba I Campus, the University of Tokyo. It will be conducted in hybrid format. Taking into account the time difference between the Netherlands and Japan, the opening session will take place in the evening of the first day.
The Owada Chair Program aims to promote research and educational exchange in the in the field of humanities and social sciences between the University of Tokyo and Leiden University, the oldest university in the Netherlands, and will be in place for 6 years from 2021. A specific theme related to international law and international relations (politics and economics) will be selected each year, and the program will consist of a keynote speech, seminars by researchers and other exchange activities such as discussions by young researchers.
Following the first session in May 2022, ‘’Emotions in International Politics‘’ (held at Leiden University), the second session in March 2023, ‘’Memory and Reconciliation‘’ (held at the University of Tokyo), and the third session in January 2024, ‘’Human rights and Global Diversity‘’ (held at Leiden University), the fourth session will be held on the theme of ‘’Sustaining Peace: Peace Operations, Prevention and Reaction‘’.
