Abstract
Disconnection from nature and domination over both nature and people is identified as a key driver for the deterioration of nature and loss of biodiversity. I will present my practice-led inquiry on how architecture, reoriented by an ethics of care set in a more-than-human perspective, can become a pathway for renegotiating human-nature relations. I will discuss the Alusta Pavilion for Multispecies Encounters and Environmental Discourse, originally built in central Helsinki (2022-24) and in 2027 opening in Daikanyama, Tokyo. The pavilion supports biodiversity and offers a space for human-nature connection in urban space. The participatory project realised together with the Finnish Institute in Japan currently welcomes collaborators for its educational and discursive program.
