Event Details
Date/Time: Nov 05 (Thu) 12:15-13:00 (JST), 2026
Seminar Format: Zoom
Speaker: Alexandra Terashima

Abstract
In this talk she will describe her experience attending PanSIG 2026 in Nagoya, a JALT conference organized around the theme Building Language Competencies Through Community. Two ideas stood out to me at this conference: treating our classrooms as communities of practice, and developing AI literacy among both teachers and students. She will trace these threads through the plenaries and the closing panel on language education in the age of AI, then turn to the practical: active-listening and note-taking activities suited to our first-year students, a case for poster-format presentations in ALESS, and a plan for building an AI-use conversation into course orientation. She will close with resources and teacher communities worth pursuing.
