Abstract
The 2025-2026 U.S. tariffs have been pursued in part to raise revenue, but also in an attempt to address international imbalances and alter the structure of the U.S. economy. Yet early evidence suggests that they have failed on all counts, creating inefficiency, disruption, and regressive tax burdens while also harming US partners. This lecture evaluates the successes and limitations of Trump’s tariff policies and explores their implications for future economic policy.Program
