About the Competition

The Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT) is a research communication competition where students currently pursuing a PhD speak about their research for three minutes with one static PowerPoint slide. All research topics are welcome. 3MT provides participants with an opportunity to practice presentation and communication skills and network with other researchers. The University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia) held the first 3MT in 2008 and it is now an internationally recognized event. Both the UTokyo 3MT competition in July 2021 and international Asia-Pacific 3MT competition at the University of Queensland in October 2021 will be fully remote, online-only events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
