The Go Global Gateway program organizes a series of lectures called “When I was 19” for students enrolled in the program. This event invites people with a variety of international experiences to talk about what they thought at the age of 19 and careers after graduation from the university. For the second round of “When I was 19” in the academic year 2021, we invited Mr. Shinji Yamagishi. He is a graduate of UTokyo and works as a career advisor at the career support office for students majoring in science and engineering at this university.

The title of the event was "When I was 19: How to work with people from diverse backgrounds at multinational companies". Beginning with his student life and studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, UTokyo, he talked about his experiences of working with people from diverse backgrounds at Japanese and multinational corporations.

His narratives included his previous duty as a member of the top management at a multinational enterprise. At the end of his talk, he encouraged participants to interact with people from diverse backgrounds through taking part in various activities.

After the talk given by Mr. Yamagishi, participants actively discussed with each other in small groups and then came back to the plenary session in which they asked him various questions. Mr. Yamagishi generously answered all these questions.

The Go Global Gateway program will organize a variety of events for the registrants. We look forward to your participation in our future events!
