UNU Global Seminar: Implementing SDGs in the Anthropocene

Overview

The University of Tokyo accepts applications from students, who wish to participate in the following program organized by United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability(UNU-IAS). The seminar focuses on the impacts of climate change in the three areas: biodiversity, water and education. At the seminar, the keynote speech will be delivered by three prominent researchers in the world related to the three areas and groupwork will be organized to discuss impact and solution of the effect of climate change. Target and eligibility:Students who belong to a regular course of a College, Faculty, or Graduate School of UTokyo and possess sufficient proficiency in English to attend lectures in English and to conduct discussion (the event will be held without an interpreter).
Number of candidates:Up to 4 or 5 eligible students from UTokyo (In principle, first-come basis)
Deadline:February 9, 2022 (Please contact the International Exchange Group by this date)
Program Cost:30,000 JPY/person

Notes

・Applying students are required to belong to a regular course of a College, Faculty, or Graduate School of UTokyo at the time of application, and will be enrolled in a regular course of a College, Faculty, or Graduate School throughout the program period. Those who are on temporary leave from the University during the time of the program cannot participate in the program. Please note that those who graduate from/complete the College, Faculty, or Graduate School of UTokyo during the program period are not eligible.
・Before applying, applicants must make sure that the programs do not interfere with their semester courses since no consideration may be made for attending the program and may make study plan on its own responsibility. Please confirm and consult with your affiliated College, Faculty, or Graduate School about taking the course(s) in this program in advance.
・Students must submit a report (format will be sent to participants at a later date) to International Exchange Group of the UTokyo Administration Bureau, after completing the program.
