Many attractive programs allow for direct application, and you can develop decision-making skills and ability by following the application procedures on your own. Additionally, it is beneficial for improving language proficiency and deepening your understanding of the local education system and culture.
Some programs offer discounts and financial assistance for UTokyo students, so please check for these opportunities. On this page, we regularly post programs that are open for direct application to UTokyo students, offered by partner universities, university alliances and public organizations. Please make sure to check the details such as application deadlines, program dates, and fees on each program's page.

If you are participating in a direct application program and meet the requirements, you may apply for scholarships such as the "Go Global Scholarships Short (3 months-1 year) / S-Short (less than 3 months) Study Abroad Scholarships". For more details, please refer to this page.

・ Participation in external programs does not include special accommodations for course registration or academic schedules at our university. Please plan responsibly and ensure your participation does not interfere with your studies.
・ Before applying, you must consult with the academic affairs office of your faculty or graduate school to confirm that participation will not pose any issues and to receive guidance on any important considerations.
・ If it is determined that participation interferes with your academic responsibilities, you may be denied participation in the program, even after acceptance.
・ You will also need to be careful concerning safety and risk management.
Once your participation in the program is confirmed, please refer to this page for your travel preparation.
・ It is recommended to apply well in advance of the deadline so that you can deal with any insufficiencies in the application documents and visa applications (if applicable). Please check the application deadline for each program.

- Amgen Scholars Program is a summer internship program, primarily targeting undergraduate students majoring in Science and Biotechnology. The program is conducted at over 20 universities and institutions worldwide, offering intensive research experiences.
- Expenses such as airfare, accommodation, and living allowances are covered by the program.
- Students from the University of Tokyo can apply not only to the program at the University of Tokyo but also to programs held at Kyoto University, a selected institution in the Asia Program, as well as the National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University.
