Direct Application Programs

Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has lowered an infectious disease "Level 1 Alert" to all over the world, please note that you need to obtain permission from your affiliated College, Faculty, or Graduate school for your in-person study abroad. Before applying, applicants must make sure that the program does not interfere with their UTokyo courses by checking the examination dates and other important scheduled class events. No special considerations will be made to attend the program. Also, before applying, please confirm and consult with your affiliated College, Faculty, or Graduate School at the time of participation to the program to ensure you fully understand issues concerning study-abroad regardless of the program style (online or in-person). Applicants are responsible for making a clear study plan for study-abroad on their own.

Points to note when you apply directly to a program (not through UTokyo)

As students need to complete all procedures by themselves, it is necessary to collect sufficient information before they actually apply.
(Note) Information from JASSO "When you use an agency to study abroad" (Japanese only)
Also, it is important to check the procedures with the relevant office of your faculty/graduate school.
You will also need to be careful concerning safety and risk management.

※This page shows the programs which are offered by partner institutions and public organizations for which students need to apply directly (not through UTokyo). Basically, only the programs that are still before the application deadlines are shown. You need to check each program's page to obtain the latest and accurate information about the program content. Costs are roughly estimated and does NOT include airfare. It is recommended to apply well in advance of the deadline so that you can deal with any insufficiencies in the application documents and visa applications (if applicable). Applying students are required to belong to a regular course of a College, Faculty, or Graduate School of UTokyo at the time of application, and will be enrolled in a regular course of a College, Faculty, or Graduate School throughout the program period. Those who are on temporary leave from the University during the time of the program cannot participate in the program. Please note that those who graduate from/complete the faculty/graduate school of UTokyo during the study-abroad period are not eligible.
