UTokyo has launched two new programs in 2026 within its short-term program for international students, the "UTokyo GUC". GUC Field Study Program offers learning opportunities both on the UTokyo campus and UTokyo facilities outside Tokyo. GUC Internship Experience Program offers learning and internship opportunities both on the UTokyo campus and in Okinawa. This program, which is conducted lectures exclusively in English, is open to exceptional students worldwide, including those from UTokyo. Joining UTokyo GUC allows students to learn in an English environment, interact with students from around the world, and experience a cost-friendly study opportunity similar to studying abroad while staying in Tokyo. Participants will be awarded "Global Units" (*), and a certificate with a grade for each course will be issued by GlobE.
(*) Global Units, unlike the regular units offered by faculties and graduate schools, cannot be counted toward graduation requirements.
GUC Field Study Program
● Duration: From June 8, 2026 to June 12, 2026
● Tuition Fee (90% discount for UTokyo students): 2-Unit course: JPY 38,000
●Travel Expenses: JPY 80,000(Travel expenses are not discounted)
GUC Internship Experience Program
● Duration: From June 1, 2026 to June 11, 2026
● Tuition Fee (90% discount for UTokyo students): 2-Unit course: JPY 38,000
●Travel Expenses: JPY 120,000(Travel expenses are not discounted)
Japanese Course
We offer a Survival Japanese course (Beginner Level) as an optional course.
● Duration: From June 1, 2026 to June 5, 2026
● Tuition Fee (90% discount for UTokyo students): 0.5-Unit course: JPY 4,000
● Target: Students enrolled in overseas universities and UTokyo students
● Other Information:
・Mainly targeting undergraduate students, but graduate students can also participate.
・Students are selected through document screening.
・Before applying, applicants must make sure that the courses do not interfere with their semester courses by carefully checking examination dates and other important scheduled class events as well as their personal schedules. Applicants may apply to GUC Off-campus program only after they have confirmed that it is possible for them to participate throughout the period.
・Once selected, students are required to attend all lectures in full until the end to successfully complete the course.

Apply online like other students. UTokyo students are exempt from the application fee (Exam fee). Details on the exemption process will be available on the UTAS bulletin board in mid-February.
