IARU Campus Sustainability Exchange

Overview

We are making a call for applications for students (primarily graduate students) to participate in sustainable campus activities as part of the joint research project ‘Sustainable Campus Project’ (from herein referred to as SCP) at one of the member universities of IARU (International Alliance of Research Universities), one of the international associations of universities to which the University of Tokyo (UTokyo) belongs. The host university for 2017 will be University of Cambridge (CAM). Students will work closely with professionals at the host university (CAM) to support the development and implementation of campus sustainability projects or conduct work relating to projects common throughout the IARU member universities. Furthermore, students will take part in activities of the TSCP Office (UTokyo Sustainable Campus Project) and support the activities of the inbound student within the University.

IARU, the International Alliance of Research Universities, is an international research association of ten world-class research universities, including the University of Tokyo. Within this framework, collaborative research among member universities, researcher and student exchanges and faculty exchange takes place.

IARU IARU Campus Sustainability Exchange Project Scope

he Campus Sustainability Exchange is a student exchange program among the IARU member universities where the students will be engaged in work relating to the campus sustainability projects. The outbound student will go to one of the member universities (for 2017 this will be University of Cambridge) where it is expected that they will receive more than 35 hours a week of training on the theme of sustainability and environmental planning. A report in English at the end of the program is to be written. Reports written by previous participating students can be viewed on the following website.

Round-trip airfare(Budget; approx. JPY250,000. Student need to consult with the International Affairs Division (Division for Global Campus Initiatives (April 2018-)) and aid for meals will be provided from UTokyo.

How to Apply

Since January 2018 the application process for short-term programs offered by Division for Global Campus Initiatives is changing to the new process using UTAS. During the respective application periods, programs using the UTAS application process will be displayed on UTAS, and you can apply to them through UTAS. The start of the application period will be announced on the news feed of this website and on Facebook,twitter and LINE.
