Talk Event with The Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Ambassador of the United States to Japan, and President Teruo Fujii

Overview

This is a talk event between the Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Ambassador of the United States and Teruo Fujii, the President of UTokyo. The event is a part of the lecture series “When I was 19”, which encourages students to reflect on their future through listening to the life experiences of distinguished guests in various fields. Ambassador Emanuel and President Fujii will reflect on their student days and offer advice to our undergraduate students. Participating students will then be given a chance to ask questions to learn more.

To apply for this event, students must have registered with the Go Global Gateway and received approval for the Go Global Statement they submitted in advance. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Event information

Date: Tuesday, October 18, 2022, 13:00 – 14:00
Venue: Hongo Campus, UTokyo (Details of the venue will be notified at a later date to students who pass the selection process.)
Target: Around 20 undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria and requirements. For details, please refer to the application guidelines. There are no prerequisite knowledge requirements at the time of application, as preliminary materials will be distributed to students who pass the internal selection. We expect many applications from students who are interested in the event theme.
Deadline: Thursday, September 29, 2022 at noon (12:00) (extended)

Application Procedure

Applicants must follow the instructions in the application guidelines when applying.

Notes

・Please note that participants' information (name, affiliation, and year, etc.) will be shared with the U.S. Embassy in Japan.
・Before applying, applicants must make sure that the event does not interfere with their UTokyo courses since no considerations will be made to attend the event. Applicants are responsible for the scheduling and their study plan.
・Before applying, please confirm and consult with your affiliated College or Faculty at the time of participation to the event about participating in the event to ensure you fully understand issues concerning the participation. If it turns out that participation to this event will affect your study plan at UTokyo, your affiliated College or Faculty may not permit your participation to the event even after your are selected in the internal screening.
