Student status and Academic credits

You need to consult with the relevant offices in the faculty/graduate school of your affiliation beforehand when you go abroad for studying abroad. In most cases, you need to complete certain procedures related to your student status (e.g. submitting “Permission to Study Abroad”, “Notification of Going Abroad”, or “Notification of Leave of Absence”, etc.). Please be aware that depending on your student status, whether or not you will be charged tuition fees or the possibility of credit transfer will be effected.

Procedures on academic affiliation status

If you wish to go abroad without going through the procedures mentioned above, you need to follow a designated procedures such as submitting a form for going abroad (e.g. going abroad for language study during a summer holiday).

Difference between “Study Abroad” and “on Leave of Absence”

Please refer to the following chart to learn about the difference in the procedures of “Study Abroad”, and “being on Leave of Absence”.
※Applicants of the University-wide Student Exchange Program need to go through the “Study Abroad” procedures. (Graduate students may go through the “Receiving Entrusted Research Guidance” procedures.)
※For transferring credits, please consult with the faculty/graduate school which you belong to during studying abroad.
