Development of multifunctional aromatic hydrocarbons for highly efficient single-layer organic light-emitting devices

The development of materials science is accelerated by the design and synthesis of novel π-conjugated molecules. We have focused on aromatic hydrocarbons composed solely of carbon and hydrogen for the materials application. We revealed that the hydrocarbons act as multifunctional materials having hole- and electron-transporting abilities. Using the hydrocarbons as base materials doped with emitters, we successfully fabricated highly efficient organic light-emitting devices (OLED) with a single-layer architecture. Based on this seed technology of single-layer OLEDs, this project aims to develop high-value-added innovative devices.
