Demand for food production is increasing year by year with global population increase. By integration of leading edge engineering and agriculture, we are developing food production technology to establish Japanese agriculture as an industry competing in the global market and realize not only stable food production but also promote sustainable agriculture. Specifically, developments of high-speed breeding, innovative seedling production technology, environmental sensors and networks, image analysis for crop management, autonomous mobile robots, nutritional and ancillary effects of crops, medical care through food, and high added value crops.
