While the globalization of the economy and the economic development of emerging economies are advancing, Japan is entering an era of rapid population decline and aging. Japan has set a national goal of the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan to 40 million in 2020 and 60 million in 2030. In Japan, it is expected that domestic and international transportation and tourism will play extremely important roles in securing sustainable development and a fruitful life. Under these circumstances, The Transport and Tourism Policy Research Unit(TTPU) is a research unit aimed at tackling education for graduate students and research, taking into account the current policies and the actual situation of transportation and tourism in order to support or revitalize international exchange, interregional exchanges and regional exchange, and to strengthen Japan's international competitiveness and to maintain regional society.
Specifically, the TTPU is developing human resources through graduate education in areas such as international transport policy, regional transport policy research, tourism policy and regional tourism policy. In addition, the TTPU promotes the research on transport and tourism sector, as well as the external dissemination through public seminars and the website.
