We search and try to describe models of sustainable community in terms of physical and social aspects, and explore design and management methods for realizing it through conducting practical researches on such following areas: an area suffering a falling birthrate and population aging; disaster-hit areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake; suburban residential areas of the metropolis including Yokohama City’s Tama Plaza district; small local cities such as Obuse Town; urban inner areas in big cities.
We formulate a sustainable model community in this low-birthrate and aging society, and are conducting practical researches on design and management methods for realizing it in suburban residential areas of the metropolis including the Tama Plaza area in Yokohama, small local cities such as Obuse Town, and urban inner areas in big cities.
In efforts to help disaster-hit areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the results of our practical research have been highly received inside and outside Japan and have won a number of awards.
