Mobility Innovation Collaborative Research Organization
Director General / Institute of Industrial Science Professor
This project is based on the R&D activities of the Advanced Mobility Research Center (ITS Center) in the Institute of Industrial Science, which include comprehensive mobility design including public transport systems, next-generation transport systems including automated vehicles, and the design of mobility society in the era of big data.
Systematic knowledge to innovate mobility will be examined by comprehensive study with literature and science by eight faculties and institutes. Social implementation trials in the Kashiwa area are conducted by long-term testing of automated shuttle services connecting Kashiwa Campus and the nearest railway station. These activities are conducted by industry-government-academia collaboration, and regional cooperation from the aspects of not only technology of vehicles and infrastructure cooperation but also those of legal and social acceptance issues, business models, and so forth. General common knowledge and regional specialty will be clarified through global and domestic discussions with universities and research institutions.
Furthermore, social outreach programs also vigorously conducted with organizing UTmobI forums, ITS Seminars, and International ITS Symposia.
