UTokyo Go Global Week 2020

We’re announcing that the ‘Go Global Week 2020’ will be held during the week beginning 12 October where we will introduce a wide range of information and international exchange events!!
 
Currently, due to the spread of the new coronavirus, UTokyo's overseas programs have been suspended. Even under such circumstances, UTokyo is offering a number of international exchange programs that can be held on campus. Moreover, we will provide students with information on UTokyo’s overseas programs with advance of the programs reopening.
 
Please refer to the outline below and participate in the overall briefing session as well as the various events!

 
1. Overall briefing session (online)

Date & Time: Monday 12, October 2020 19:00~21:00ish
Place: YouTube Live

Language: Japanese
*We will upload the slides of the events in Japanese, as well as in English later.
Participants: UTokyo students (and staff)


Registration:
Register by 12 noon of Monday, 12 October using the pre-registration form below. The live URL link will be sent to registrants in the afternoon of that day.
We will also upload a video recording of the event if you missed the live session.

2. Various Events (online/offline)

During Go Global Week, various international exchange events will be held on campus. There will be a variety of events such as gathering with graduates and students with experience of study abroad, and you can hear about details of the programs etc. The events will be held both online and offline, while some events are held in Japanese there are other that are in English and/or Chinese. Also, you may need to register in advance to join some of the programs. There will also be programs that you can join on the day. Tuesday 13, October

Language Exchange Program Introductory Session and Student Gathering
Organizer: International Student Support Room
Outline: Putting your questions altogether, you can learn everything about ISSR Language Exchange Program at the session. A small/casual gathering (Q&A session) with international/Japanese students who are interested in the program will be conducted, too.

Orgnizer: Globalization Office
Outline: The Globalization Office (GO) provides various support to enrich your international experiences.  At this event, we will 1) offer study abroad advising sessions. This will also be a good opportunity for you to talk with returnees about their study-abroad experience.  2) provide information about Global praxis courses, seminars and events. 3) hold "Post-return presentation sessions" Please feel free to join.

“Meet and Talk” with students with experience of USTEP
Orgnizer: The International Exchange Group
Outline: The first half of the program is a panel discussion by the students with experience of USTEP and the latter half of the program is interaction with them in smaller groups.

Wednesday 14, October

Chinese Conversation Club
Orgnizer: International Student Support Room
Outline: 在线中文茶话会是由留学生支援室主办的活动,旨在为东京大学的留学生和日本学生提供一个交流的平台。同学们可以用中文或是日文等,就日常生活、爱好、文化、学业、就职等展开话题、交换想法以及信息。Chinese Conversation Club is a meet-up for UTokyo Chinese speaking students and Japanese students. You can discuss various topics, such as daily life, hobbies, culture, studies, and job-hunting  in Japanese, Chinese and other languages.

“When I was 19. ~From UTokyo to University of Oxford~.”
Orgnizer: Go Global Gateway, The International Exchange Group
Outline: We will be inviting Mr. Naosuke Mukoyama, a UTokyo graduate currently studying as a doctoral student at University of Oxford. He will share his experiences of the time when he was a student at UTokyo and his personal history that led him to University of Oxford.

GLP-GEfIL Program Information Session
Orgnizer: Center for the Development of Global Leadership Education
Outline: We will conduct Lunch Session for GLP-GEfIL program during Go Global Week. Please come and join us; they are LIVE sessions after a while!

“When I was 19. ~To enhance the presence of Japanese science and technology~.”
Orgnizer: Go Global Gateway, The International Exchange Group
Outline: We will be inviting Dr. Shuji Kitahara, who is currently a Senior Lecturer and deputy director of its International office at Tokyo Women’s Medical University.
He will share his experiences from the time when he was an undergraduate student, what led him to feel the presence of Japanese science and technology is declining, and what motivated him to be a doctoral student for the second time.
