We present an ideal method for research, development, and design for use in manufacturing sectors – such as the auto industry, energy machinery industry, and so on – in order to promote a carbon-neutral society. The method involves maximizing the use of HPC simulation technology by combining HPC and data-science approaches, with the purpose of leading the manufacturing sector via a strong industry-academia-government collaboration.
We have researched and developed advanced simulation software via national projects, such as "Research and development promoted by industry-academia-government collaboration to resolve the common challenges for dramatically increasing the use of the fuel battery: Theoretical investigation and verification of design methodology based on machine learning for high-pressure composite hydrogen tanks" (Participant: Nobuhiro Yoshikawa, center vice director/professor, Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo), which is promoted in collaboration with SUPWAT, Inc. and is sponsored by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
【Main Project of CISS】
A. Research and development of innovative physical models and algorithms for numerical calculation
B. Development of advanced and fundamental simulation software
C. Production of solutions for pioneering issues by using leading edge supercomputers
D. Promotion of the diffusion for fundamental simulation software by promoting consortium projects
E. The fostering of human resources available to use advanced simulation software
