The Junior Division of the College of Arts and Sciences has been offering courses such as Gender Studies, Gender Studies (Humanities), Gender Studies (Social Sciences), and Culture and Representation (Sexuality Studies), etc. In addition to these courses, a variety of courses such as Disability Studies, Colonialism Studies, Feminist Science Studies, Diversity and Law, and Theories of Social Justice, have been offered since the start of AY2023, as well as courses in related disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, and science and technology studies (https://www.utdandi.org/ (in Japanese)). Transgender Studies, Cyberfeminism, and Rethinking the Concept of D&I are also offered as part of the Thematic Courses aimed at encouraging smaller group discussions. Through these courses, students will be able to develop awareness of and respect for diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The University of Tokyo also provides the “Diversity and Inclusion Program” as a University-wide Undergraduate Education Program which is open to students in the Senior Division (3rd and 4th year students). Graduate students are also eligible to join this program.
