We present an ideal method for research, development, and design in the manufacturing sector, such as automobile industry, energy-machinery industry, etc., to achieve a carbon-neutral society and the method involves maximizing the use of high-performance computing (HPC), with the goal of leading the manufacturing sector through a strong industry-academia-government collaboration.
We researched and developed advanced simulation software for national projects, such as "Program for Promoting Researches on the Supercomputer Fugaku: Research and development of innovative fluid-dynamics technologies on Fugaku for predicting performance" (Leading institute: Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo; Issue representative: Chisachi Kato, center director/professor), which is sponsored by MEXT, and "Development of Technologies for Hydrogen Refueling Stations: Development of Technologies for Cost Reduction of Hydrogen Refueling Stations: Establishment of evaluation method for composite pressure vessel/Technology development for technical standard improvement" (Leading institute: Japan Petroleum Energy Center (JPEC); Associate participant: Nobuhiro Yoshikawa, center vice director/professor, Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo), which is sponsored by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
【Primary Projects of CISS】
A. Research and development of innovative physical model and algorithm for numerical calculation.
B. Development of advanced and fundamental simulation software.
C. Production of solution for pioneering issues using leading edge supercomputer.
D. Promotion of diffusion for fundamental simulation software by promoting consortium projects.
E. Fostering availability of human resources to use advanced simulation software.
