The University of Tokyo Institutes for Advanced Study (UTIAS)

In line with “The University of Tokyo Action Scenario,” the University of Tokyo Institutes for Advanced Study (UTIAS) was established on January 1, 2011, as a University-wide organization to enhance the University’s academic excellence and further internationalize its general research environment. UTIAS will actively promote UTokyo’s world-class research and strive for its application to the benefit of society.

This organization is currently comprised of two institutes: the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) and the International Research Center for Neurointelligence (IRCN).

Also affiliated with UTIAS is the Transdisciplinary Initiative for Global Sustainability (TIGS).
