UTokyo Global Summer Program

New summer courses for highly talented students from partner universities

These intensive, one to two-week courses were originally introduced for students of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU), a network of eleven international research-intensive universities. From 2019, these courses will be offered to further enhance the mobility of students between UTokyo and its select partners.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student of a university that is a member of IARU, UTokyo's Strategic Partner universities or member of Asian Universities Alliance (AUA).

Schedule

Application Period: From January 15 to February 28
Receive Result of Screening: Late March

Thank you for your applying to the UTokyo GSP.
The application is now closed (deadline: 28 February).
Since we received more applications than expected, the results will be announced at a later date than originally planned. We will update our website as soon as a decision has been made.



Payment Deadline: Late April
Program Period: Session 1 June 24 to July 5 / Session 2 July 4 to July 17

Program fee

JPY 75,000 per course (Approx. USD 650)
The program fee must be paid in full after admission is confirmed in April by credit card ONLY. 
As a rule, we do not refund the program fee once payment has been completed.

*If you participate in more than one course, please pay the total amount of tuition fees online.

Accommodation

Students are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. If requested, the university can book a room in a hotel near the university for you.
Payment for accommodations is the sole responsibility of the students.

The application must be completed online. Online applications will be opened from January 15, 2019.
The following documents are required to be submitted online.

    1) An application form
    2) An OFFICIAL transcript(s) from all the institutions of higher education one has attended.   
    3) Grading scale (if not mentioned in the above official transcript)
    4) Proof(s) of Language Proficiency
        2~4 )Please scan and save the data as a PDF file.
    5) Color ID photo, plain background (taken within the last 3 months)
    6) Passport copy (pages showing passport number and face photo required)

Language Requirement

UTokyo GSP will be taught in English. For students whose first language is not English or who are enrolled in an educational institution where English is not the primary language of instruction, submission of an official certificate that shows the following level of language proficiency is required. 

TOEFL iBT 90 or above
IELTS 6.5 or above
*Only an official unexpired score certificate is accepted.

If you do not have an English language certificate but are currently enrolled in a program where the primary language of instruction is English, please submit an official letter attesting your English language skills.

Each course is worth 2 University of Tokyo credits
