The University of Tokyo provides visa consulting services for international students and researchers throughout the University in order to respond promptly to questions about visa status and to reduce the burden on UTokyo faculty members and administrative staff hosting international students and researchers.

From October 1, 2024, the postage fee for being attached to return envelops for Certificate of Eligibility will be revised. For applications submitted in September 2024, please confirm the stamp fee when using the Visa Consulting Service. If you received a notice of permission from the Immigration Bureau after applying for renewal/change of status of residence by yourself, and would like to ask the Visa Consulting Service to receive your residence card at the Immigration Bureau on your behalf, please refer to the following instruction.

Inbound passengers are able to submit the "Declaration of Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Articles" (the Declaration) electronically, for example, during the waiting times for checked baggage. After retrieving checked baggage, passengers may simply walk through the Gate for customs clearance without stopping or waiting.

Those who have traveled to the designated countries since March 2011 are not eligible to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. In addition, dual nationals of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program and the countries in the list are also not eligible to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program.
