WISE Program (Doctoral Program for World-leading Innovative & Smart Education)

Summary This program seeks to foster exceptional doctoral-level researchers who play a leading role in their respective fields through the establishment of degree programs that bring together world-class education and research and through the creation of hubs that sustainably promote human resources development, exchanges between researchers, and the development of novel collaborative research initiatives. This is accomplished in coordination with external institutions—including top universities, private companies, etc.—in Japan and overseas using internal as well as external funding from private companies and other sources. The program adopted at our university UTokyo has concluded its funding period; however, its initiatives continue to be carried forward out within the framework of the International Graduate Program of Excellence.
