System for the Expenditure of Principal Investigator's (PI) Personnel Expenses from Direct Expenses of Competitive Research Funds at the University of Tokyo

Summary	This program enables principal investigators, etc. engaged in research supported through a competitive research grant to pay for personnel expenses related to this research (based on the proportion of time spent on said research) out of the direct costs of the competitive research grant and allows an amount equivalent of said personnel expenses to be used as a funding source for other purposes.
Target	Professors, associate professors, lecturers, and assistant professors (including specially appointed instructors) who are the principal investigator or project members of research supported by a competitive research grant (limited to cases approved by the entity responsible for fund distribution). With regard to the specially appointed instructors in 1, limited to those who are paid out of the university operating expenses or indirect costs.
Support Details	Provision of a special allowance for principal investigators, etc. and allocation of research funds as an incentive for principal investigators, etc.
Application Period	On-going (as this program requires approval from the dean/director of the graduate school/institution that the principal investigator, etc. belongs to as well as the university’s board of directors, please check with the responsible individual in the relevant department office regarding the application deadline).
